What I Learned Going Dairy-Free For Two Weeks

I decided to give up dairy for two weeks, and it created more problems than it solved.

First, a disclaimer. I am not lactose intolerant, nor have any medical reason to abstain from the creamy goodness. I am a self-proclaimed foodie, trained chef, and wellness coach who is fanatical about maximizing health, without giving up an ounce of flavor.

A few years ago I discovered a secret formula for maintaining my ideal weight while still indulging in the pleasure of eating. This was after two decades of struggling with eating and drinking too much and carrying around an excess of 35 pounds.

So why would I want to veer from that path? Now two weeks removed from my dairy-free trial, I wonder if it was worth it.

But really, it all started as a simple experiment.

The Looming Question

Does a dairy-free diet enhance weight loss, or even well-being for that matter? I was confused and I wanted to find out.

A friend of mine is a fitness trainer with six-pack abs. Now we all know the adage “abs are made in the kitchen,” and when I asked about her diet she sent me a sample of her weekly food plan.

The only difference between my secret formula and hers? The absence of dairy. As I pondered this…
